I saw this on Kurzweil's site:
Caffeine can make you more easily convinced by arguments that go against your beliefs because it improves your ability to understand the reasoning behind statements, suggests experiments at University of Queensland.
I understand now why most fundamentalist religions don't let their cult members drink caffeine....
not just coffee, its any strong Caffeine, i but think there is a limit to the amount of V or red bull you can take to get an agrument.

we always ply our visiting clients with top of the range coffee... but never realised we were doing it for such cynical reasons.
and i better understand now why that turkish carpet salesman in cappadocia insisted we sit down for a coffee while we looked at the merchandise...
