I've had people telling me about AllOfMp3 for ages but I'd never really checked it out until Nik Cubrilovic posted the news about their new service "allTunes" on TechCrunch a couple of days ago. This morning I've spent an hour checking it out and holy crap I'm blown away.
Imagine iTunes but based in Russia. Imagine that you can search through the 40,000 albums they have, preview any track, then click and download high bitrate mp3s for around $1-1.50 per album or about 9 cents per track.
Is it legal? According to Nik:
The reason the prices are so low is because AllOFMP3 and allTunes operate in Russia, where they claim they are complying with local copyright law and paying royalties back to artists and labels. The legality of the service is questionable, but they have been in operation for years now with no seeming threat to their existance.
Forget eDonkey. Forget XDCC. This is the smack for music. Cheap, no DRM, and high quality. You can preview and a full album will pull down in minutes.
Thank you Mother Russia! Now I finally understand the cold war! The Yanks were right to be worried about them after all. Imagine this kind of service but for TV. For DVDs. Imagine being able to pay $1 for a SEASON of your favourite TV show. For an entire DVD.

I did a search for Alltunes Payments and found this site. I was going to apply for JCB card and gave up. I have used Alltunes for awhile and love it, but in its absence, I found Newsleecher. It is a software that searches the bigs newsgroups (Usenet) and finds music, or software or movies. I have used it for a few weeks and love it! I had Dl'd music from bittorrent and usenet in the past but got discouraged with all the bad files. The software has a system to check that the files are complete. I have DL'd about 70 CD's since I got it . I have found most every CD I was looking for is there. When it isnt I will use Alltunes. It is $29 for the year and you just need to contact your cable company to find out what the address is to their news server (free). Plug the server into newsleecher and you are up and running.

I have the same problem. I have been using allofmp3 for a year and now I am not able to refill my balance. Before I was getting "page not found" & "process has been disabled" now I am getting "502 Bad Gateway nginx/0.4.0". I am sure the US is blocking their payment process into the US. DAMMMM BASTARDS!!!!!!!!!

Having experienced all of the obstacles that previous posters have mentioned, I finally was able to add money to my alltunes balance, but at a cost. I went to the allofmp3cash.com website and made a payment using PayPal. I bought $10, which resulted in $11 added to my balance ($10 + 1%), but--here's the big catch--I was charged $17.95! That's right, I got $11 but paid $17.95. In other words, there was a service fee (of sorts) of $6.95!
At that rate, AllTunes becomes less of a good deal, although still a lot cheaper than iTunes!

Has anyone checked out mp3sugar yet? They charge 34.95 or 19.95, but it doesn't say what you get for that price. You can use MC and VISA. It looks very much like allofmp3.

It doesn't look as good as alltunes. The downloaded files are only available for 24 hours.

I figured out how to add more to my balance. it was very easy to do. So easy, that I'm kind of embarrassed. i'm almost afraid to share the info. You just really need to read the screens closely and make the necessary adjustments. For me, it was a security setting.
go to internet options, go to advanced tab, make sure security settings are checked to allow for ssl and tls.
i checked the tls and that was all it took.

Hah. It did work. Although it only allows me to add money from alltunes.com and not allofmp3.com or mp3sparks.com
