Does anyone know what happened to the Australian Federal Police's investigation into how Melbourne Herald-Sun columnist Andrew Bolt got his hands on a top secret report on Iraq written by Andrew Wilkie when he worked for the Office of National Assessments? Did it get covered up as Margo Kingston suggested? Or did I just miss the denouement?
Very interesting reading. I would never trust anything the Howard government said and I am more likely to belive Wilkie than Bolt in this matter. It sounds more like the Govt leaking stuff to the press to discredit people that could harm them.
This war should never have happened and we all know it.

Don't hold your breath Cameron. The standard response of the Commonwealth Government to leaks has been to launch a FedPol investigation ever since Lawrie Oakes got his hands on a complete Federal Budget before the offical reading speech of John Howard in 1980:

Federal Police investigations into government leaks never result in anything. At least not that I can remember. Some people older than I may even be able to remember further back than 1980.
