Bunbury in Western Australia was hit with a tornado this week and some of the photos are amazing. Check out the rest of these shots on Flickr. Also check out Duncan Riley's coverage in The Blog Herald.

they are great shots but there is no way in the world that the shots were taken in Bunbury or anywhere else in the South West of WA for that matter, for starters the tornado hit at 6am when it was still pretty much dark, and was a "cold air" tornado which forms as part of a storm as opposed to the warm air tornadoes in the US (these shots look like warm air shots), and the landscape is totally wrong, my guess is the American midwest.
Having said this though the tornado was real and was still pretty amazing, it rated as a F2 on the fujita scale.

interesting comments DUncan! I saw these photos on Channel 7's "Sunrise" show quoted as from Bunbury. Maybe they got them off Flickr as well?!

The Photo's are very good ,but again someone from somewhere has has really got it all wrong .
I live in Bunbury ,Western Australia and was driving to work when the storm hit.
The Storm hit at 6.05 am in conjunction with a severe Cold Front.
We dont grow Maize in the Bunbury area, and the country is generally flat and heavily timbered.
Also your photo's are in the daylight hours which is also incorrect.

I, too was very sceptical when I saw these photo's. I don't remeber seeing any corn when I drove up the South West Highway on my way to work that day! Wrong time of year, innit?

we were on holiday when the tornado hit Bunbury.
driving home through Bunbury on our way home to Brunswick we noticed all the trees on the roads. when we got further it to Bunbury my Dad said " a tornado has beeb through here".
It was terrible to hear that the roof of my sisters house hade been distroyed.
luckly our house was fine.
over the week roads have been closed, houses distroyed and buildings knoked to the ground.
It was a disaster.

thanks everyone for pointing out the photos aren't from Bunbury. Does anyone HAVE photos from Bunbury so we can see what the storm really did look like?
