While I was in Arizona I had a non-stop argument with Shel Israel about how much American coffee sucks and how Melbourne is, without a shadow of doubt, the coffee capital of the world. I have not found a better place for coffee anywhere else in the world. Not in Italy, France, USA, UK - nowhere.
To prove it, check out Peter Christo's Melbourne Coffee Review blog and then check out Rob Barac's new site called CafeGeek.
I did get a rare great espresso in Seattle recently (from Vikki's secret little hole in the wall) but that was the only decent coffee I had during my two weeks in the US. If you know places to get a REAL coffee in the US, go up to Rob's site and fill in the details!
So you're not the world's #1 Starbucks fan after all?
How disappointing ;-)

Thanks for the plug for www.cafegeek.com there Cam...
Indeed, bring on the war of the tastebuds. I am so sick and f**king tired of drinking the sewage, the brown coloured discharge from colonoscopy's that passes for coffee in the USA.
I still remember as a young lad being excited to try "American Coffee" at a "cafe" in Sydney. With visions of Mel Gibson and Bruce Willis chugging down gallons of the stuff in the movies I figured... "hey this shit's gotta be good"
ummm NO.
My parents had brought me up on Turkish coffee from the age of 4 or 5years and even in my early teens, I knew that the murky imposter would never be referred to as coffee by me again.
