I've been learning how to use MindManager X5 Pro for the last few days (thanks Hobie & Buzz) and I learned something AMAZING tonight - MindManager does RSS. MindManager X5 Pro comes with several categories of Smart Map Parts. One of them is an RSS web part.
According to the Innovation Tools website:
Using this map part, you can select from three MindManager news feeds and eight RSS feeds on various technology topics from C|Net News.com. You can add other news feeds as well, via settings in the program's tools/macros menu. It's nice to see Mindjet supporting this increasingly popular technology for tracking news from multiple sources.
This is amazing. I'm not aware of any other mainstream consumer products which have native support for RSS. Dave Winer should be proud.
I'm currently mapping out my entire life to test the features. It's a very slick application so far. Buzz has me excited about the potential combination of MindManager plus Activewords.
When you say map out your life, do you mean it? I actually did it.
I put myself in the centre as the subject, and my Mum, Dad and Sister as the main topics, and then I plotted every subtopic as an event in my life caused by people.
How did we meet? Probably Scoble. How did I latch on to Scoble, probably Winer or Doc Searls. Back to Cluetrain, recommended by William who I worked with. William was through Knowledgepool, how did I get the job at Knowledgepool, Paul Doherty. And so on.
What you end up with is an amazing pattern of contacts, and you can clearly see who are the greatest nodes of influence in your life, and where your girlfriends and wives came from!!
Occasionally it's a random event, or something you did randomly which caused something to happen. But that's quite rare.
Good luck with your life!!

hey Tim, yeah I'm LIVING in it. We actually interviewed Hobart Swan, the External Affairs manager from MindJet a couple of days ago for the show. Keep an eye out for it soon on www.gdayworld.com. We spend an HOUR talking about MindManager.
