Ray Kurzweil's book, The Singularity Is Near: When Humans Transcend Biology comes out next week. And I suspect that a lot of people wonder if things will really happen as fast as Kurzweil suggests.
I can't WAIT for this book. I'm going to go order it now from Amazon and it will go to the top of the (very large) reading pile. If you want to see into the future of the human race, there is no better place to start than Kurzweil IMHO. HIs previous book, The Age of Spiritual Machines: When Computers Exceed Human Intelligence, is a must read.
