Skylook - a new Skype toolbar for Outlook
Yesterday I had the pleasure of having coffee and donuts with Jeremy Hague from Melbourne outfit Netralia. Last week they released their first product - SKYLOOK. It's a very cool app which creates an Outlook toolbar to help you make Skype calls.
Here's a few things that are cool about it:
- It auto-records Skype calls! For podcasters like myself who do LOTS of Skype interviews, this is a godsend. No more screwing around with different applications. Just start the call and forget about it!
- It also saves your text Skype conversations.
- When you make a SkypeOut call, it saves the number you dial and updates your contacts with correct number. This is very handy for putting country codes at the front of landline and mobile numbers.
- Presence awareness. The toolbar shows you if your contacts are online or offline.
Jeremy tells me they plan to release WEEKLY updates. What else can I tell you about Jeremy. He's only 26. He and his partner left their jobs at a large corporate software company a few months ago to build Netralia. Good on 'em. They are living the dream. He's a big fan of Motely Crue and has tickets to see them in December. Oh and he also has a pair of Elvis sunnies like yours truly! Gotta love a guy with good taste in cheesy sunnies! I'm going to do an interview with him (using Skylook of course) today for the G'DAY WORLD podcast.

Thanks for the recommendation Cam. This has been on my list of tools to evaluate. I just moved it up!

I've tried the application today (the Skylook) and I regret to say that worked really bad for me. Not only I was not able to use it at all because an error kept appearing on my PC but also because it crashed my Outlook completely! I will continue using Hotrecorder.
