who is Danica Patrick?

I love keeping an eye on Google Zeitgeist to see what people are searching on. I'm even thinking about putting together a weekly podcast that focuses solely on what people are searching on.

Anyway, I checked it tonight and it's mostly got the topics you'd expect:

Danica Patrick?? Who?? Turns our she is a female racing car driver. How the hell did she make it into the top ten searches? A quick search of Google News shows that she had a bad run in the Indy 500 this week. Apparently that's a car race. :-)

Kenny Chesney, who's that?? Oh apparently some country singer who married Renee Zellweger this week.

So, if Google searches are anything to go by, that's what the people of the world are thinking about this week. Celebrity weddings. Star Wars. Gaming consoles. Car races. No wonder the world is such a mess. Maybe our whole premise for The Podcast Network, that people are smarter than the media gives them credit for, is entirely wrong after all. Maybe we should just do shows on celebrity weddings.

Perhaps this proves that you are the Dumb ones and the rest of the people are the smart ones? I don't see why people being interested in gaming, Star Wars or Car racing proves that they are dumb and ruining the world. Perhaps its all the do-gooder, kill joys that are making the world a worse place to live!

"Who is Danica Patrick?" Saying that to a race fan is like asking a baseball fan "Who is Barry Bonds?" She is a 23 year old Indy car rookie who today made history in Indianapolis. On a side note, the 500 is the largest single day sporting event in the world. I guess that means that there are millions of dumb people out there that cheered for Danica. What would you prefer people look at online? Don't bash what you obviously know nothing about.

well "TheDude" I agree. If millions of people have nothing better to do with their time than watch cars drive around and around a race track... we're all in bad shape. I'd prefer they look at information pertaining to making the world a better, safer place. But hey, we all need to blow of steam once in a while.

Danica is one CALIENTE race-car driver who just distinguished herself by placing FOURTH at the Indianapolis 500 (a.k.a. "The Brickyard"). Despite what MIGHT have been called "rookie mistakes," she showed a LOT of poise and focus, managing to come from 16th at one point to LEAD the race for over a dozen laps before having to run her engine lean cost her the lead.

The lady (and she IS one) is very much for REAL. Take that to the bank!
