mmmm.... Konfabulator

I was reading JK’s feed this morning and saw these wonderful widgets he has on his new Tablet desktop! Mmmm, methinks to meself, I need to check those out! So… a few clicks later, I’m trialing Konfabulator2 and it’s pretty sweet. I also picked up True Launch Bar and installed the trial version. I haven’t yet figured out what it does though. MMMMM…. Need more widgets….

I haven't posted my desktop on the HP yet so here's what it looks like (today):

A moron

Apparently I upset one of Danica Patrick’s avid fanboys with my recent questionings about who she is. I got this email today from a Michael Groves:

I was checking out Danica Patrick on the net today and came across your page.  For one thing Danica finished 4th at Indy, that is not a bad week at Indy.  Second she was the first female in history to lead Indy.  How many laps have you led at Indy?  Lets see Danica at 23 has accomplish more in her life then I bet you could ever hope to achieve.  Oh and my question as to how many lap you have led at Indy, I looked it up, and odd, it says you never even have competed.  LOL   like that's a surprise.

You’re right Michael. I haven’t completed any laps of the “Indy”. Until now I thought “Indy” was a guy with a whip and hat. The other reason I haven’t completed any laps is… well… when dogs run around in circles all day, you have them put down, right?

Ahhhhh I’m only kidding. You racing fans really have no sense of humour, do ya? Must be the fumes.

The Linux User Show

Well I guess my Microsoft implant has well and truly been removed!

We are finally ready to launch The Linux User Show for all you penguin lovers out there.

It’s hosted by Jon Watson and the first show should be ready later this week, so you may as well head over and subscribe to it so you don’t miss out.

Welcome to the TPN family Jon.

San Gimgnano, Tuscany, Italy

Sitting in a cubicle somewhere, wondering what the hell you are doing with your life?

I took this photo of the Chianti region of Tuscany, as seen from the hill of San Gimgnano, last year while on vacation. Print it out, put it up on your monitor, and breath deeeeeply.....

How do we get into the next iTunes?

Everyone's asking me "are you guys going to have your shows in the next version of iTunes?". So I've scoured Apple's website but I can't figure out how to submit our (currently 19) shows. Can anyone point me in the direction of someone at Apple to speak to? If you want to keep your details private, please email Cameron.

update on Melbourne blogger catch-up

Thanks to those of your who filled out the survey about a Melbourne blogger meet-up. As of today, I've had 25 responses.

  • 24 say they would come to a regular meet-up. To the one person who said "no"... why did you even bother filling out the survey????
  • Most people want to have it monthly.
  • even tie as to whether or not we should have it on a weekday evening or a weekend BBQ.
  • Most people said they've pay up to $10 to cover venue and nibblies.
  • and 80% would prefer just a casual catch-up with nibblies.

So... how about I try to find a venue for one evening to start with and take it from there? With only 25 responses, I figure only a dozen people will turn up... we could probably do this at a café?

The Schapelle Corby case - a summation by an Aussie QC

From Faris QC's blog:

My conclusion is that whilst I do not know whether Corby is in fact guilty, but I am not surprised she was convicted.

Peter Faris is an Australian QC. He's written a very logical summary of the case. I'm sure most people feel sorry for Corby, but on the basis of Faris' summation, her conviction shouldn't be a surprise.

Note: Faris also has great taste in film.
