For those of you who haven't seen it yet - Mr Stanic on TV.
Hey this is pretty cool. From Mike Seyfang’s (the Product Manager at LearnDog) blog:
WOW this PodCasting stuff is powerful. Last night Mandy was having a drink in a pub with a colleague who mentioned they heard Jemma talking about LearnDog on the radio!
Confused? Check out this post to the LearnDog blog.
Obviously it wasn’t Charles Wright she was talking to. J
Charles Wright from The Bleeding Edge column (in The Age) slams us in his blog. And, personally, I agree! We must be stopped. This can’t go on. There should be a law against it.
Most of the Podcasts we've heard are self-indulgent raves that simply aren't worth listening to. No offence to Cameron Reilly and Mick Stanic, whose G'day World podcast aggregator just seems to be totally beloved of various authorities. Honestly. We can't think why. Have they ever listened to one of those sessions?
They're clever chaps, Cameron and Mick. They run good blogs, they're full of great ideas, and we've enjoyed chatting to them from time to time. But somehow, when they get in front of a microphone their tongues just seem to belt along, WAAaay in front of their brains. And nothing it seems, can get them to stop (which is one of the hidden dangers of VOIP, if you ask us.)
The idea of hearing nothing but that sort of stuff is appalling, frankly. If you thought talk-back radio was bad, this stuff will turn you into a totally manic book lover.
I've got an idea for a weekly online comic. Need someone who can do the artwork. I'll do the writing.
I've been invited to be on 3CR 855AM "Melbourne's Voice Of Dissent" next Tuesday morning about 8am. Tune in!
Wow, it's been a loooong time since we put up a G'Day World show but I promise it's been worth the wait.
In early February were we spoke with Dave Gallo, Director of Special Projects at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution in Massachusetts in the US. Dave was another fantastic introduction from our mate Buzz Bruggeman.
Dave talks to us for over an hour on the mysteries and wonders of the deep, the Titanic and the work he has done with movie director James Cameron. Dave is an amazing guy with some amazing stories.
Australia's commercial television networks have refused to screen new advertisements which attack the Federal Government over its Timor Sea oil and gas negotiations.
The ads feature a group of World War II veterans who personally criticise the Prime Minister over claims that the Government has unfairly taken from East Timor $2 billion in contested gas and oil royalties.
Interesting if Channel 7 has turned these down, as I seem to recall David Koch taking a stance on this issue a couple of weeks ago, sounding like he was on the same side as the Timor Sea Justice Campaign. Basically the position is that the Australian Federal Government has laid claim to $2 billion in gas and oil royalties that rightfully belong to East Timor.
The idea of TV networks not running advertisements out of fear of defaming a Prime Minister is interesting. Don't all of the Federal Oppositions TVC's in election time criticize him and call him all manner of names? What's the technical difference?
God I hate Reality TV (except Jamie Oliver's new school dinner show which is fascinating!) and especially these "talent" shows. So it's great to see Triumph the Insult Dog taking one of the hosts of American Idol to the cleaners in this clip.
