Marc Cuban on IT Conversations

Y'know, out here in Australia, we don't really know who Marc Cuban is. The Dallas Whatericks? Are they baseball or football or basketball or nerfball? I don't know and I don't care. I don't even follow Australian football. And HD? What's that? We don't get much HD out here yet.

BUT HOLY CRAP THIS GUY GETS ME EXCITED!

I was listening to his chat from Web 2.0 on IT Conversations this morning and I did one of those things where I pulled my car into my driveway and then SAT THERE like an idiot for another 20 minutes, not wanting to even pause the talk to walk inside 'cuz I was so in the groove of what he was saying.

And THEN I heard him say he's in business with Jason Calacanis over at WeblogsInc (where Marc write the CEO blog) and I got excited 'cuz we're getting Jason on the show soon and I'd love to somehow wrangle a chat with Marc. This guy is great. He talks on the IT Conversations show about how sending a terabyte hard drive across the country overnight, pre-populated with DRM'd films, is the equivalent of 7mbps broadband, and it was one of those "holy shit" moments for me. Like a penny dropped. ANd then he's talking about standards wars, or as he likes to call them "DEATH WARS" and having been in a couple of those, I know what he means. Customers win. Content providers win. They are very exciting and Marc loves to find those and figure out how to benefit from them.

Anyway... I was chatting on Skype to Marc Orchant just afterwards and I told him listening to Cuban was like having a half dozen espressos being IV'd into my pre-frontal cortex.

Speaking of Orchant... check out his big news! It's kinda funny how the SplaTT and I are starting to get to know some of these elite bloggers... we're just a couple of dumb Aussies. And yet we've got this loop which started with Buzz, and is now leading us to the most incredible list of smart folks from around the world... Orchant, Scoble, Calacanis, Wright, Boyle, Searls, Rubel... where will it end?

If you want to lose all respect for the man, check out an episode of The Benefactor (bittorrent it). He might have some smarts, but comes across like a toss. There you go, new Aussie word for you next Podcast - Tosser.

So what? Every person has weaknesses, the way to success is usings their strenghts.

You can be a total idiot but might do something tiny good - the fact that you this tiny thing good can give me such bust of inspiration does not make you a moron for the rest of it.

We focus too much on weaknesses instead of intensifying our strenghts.
