"Unreadable" HDD
The saga continues. Last night, after re-installing Windows XP successfully, I re-connected the secondary HDD with all of my data on it (yes this IS my only backup). Now Windows can *see* the drive but says it is "unreadable". According to this article on MSDN, this apparently means I have a damaged Master Boot Record (MBR). It looks BAD. Today I need to find a hard drive specialist who can look at it while I'm on holidays. Late last night I had both Daniel McPherson (Microsoft Services, London) and David Martin (former Windows Product Manager in Redmond, now runs his own consulting firm in Adelaide, South Australia) on IM trying to help me out. Dan thinks I'm screwed and Dave is optimistic! Thanks guys! I've got a bet each way.

Is the picture of you screaming intended to suit this thread? ;o))

As they say in Belgium "quand on sait pas - on va pas!"...which translates into "when one does not know it - one does not do it".
HDD stands for Happy Dog Days - right?

Nicole - no, but I'm thinking of replacing the photo with one of me throwing my PC through the window...

Yes please. As long as you don't replace it with a mac. ;)
