PC problems fixed... hopefully
Many thanks to Serdar and Daniel for their advice to physically open up the box and remove the data drive. Once i did that, Windows was MORE THAN HAPPY to install on the goddamn drive I was trying to install it on the first time. WHAT THE FUCK is that all about. Imagine my mum trying to figure THAT one out. She doesn't have a blog read by helpful geeks. I want someone from the Windows team to explain THAT to me please. Scoble - make it happen. I've got a mate of mine on IM at the moment who is an ex-Windows PM and he's got no idea either.
I'm not so much pissed that Windows wouldn't install on the drive the first time around, I'm annoyed that the error messages were TOTALLY FUCKING USELESS and worked itself into a recursive loop. For example:
"To install Windows XP on the partition you selected, Setup must write some startup files to the following disk:
131070 MB Disk 0 at Id 0 on bus 0 on atapi [MBR]"
WHAAAAT????
Obviously it DIDN'T need to do SQUAT to that drive, cuz it's installing now on the other drive.
C'mon Microsoft Windows guys. You can do better. I want "WinTone". It should just work dammit. Man, I can't wait until we do the next G'Day World show. I am going to have a rant about this subject. Luckily it's a couple of weeks away and I've got a week chillin' in QLD beforehand.

Now I understand that picture on your blog margin. It's a cry of anguish.

Your Mum certainly would have trouble with any of that. I am having a problem the last few weeks with my hotmail not emptying my junk mail folder on request. I tried the hotmail geeks & they told me it was a problem at their end & they were working on it & to try again in a few days. That was a couple of weeks ago & still no joy!
