Cafes who get it
Let's face it - the cafe is the new office, more than ever. In a world of wireless everywhere (thanks again NetConnect card) I spend more and more of my time, in between meetings, sitting in a cafe, typing away, drinking a skinny latte (or two), doing business via email, mobile, skype, and IM. I do probably half of my meetings in cafes.
So here's what I want - a list of cafes, not with WiFi, but with tables near to powerpoints. I want a list like that handy at all times for all capital cities. I've been on my laptop all day today, in between meetings and presentations from Microsoft about the new version of the their partner program (more about that later) and my battery is running low. I need coffee and power.
I'll start a list here and if you send me your recommended cafes, I'll add them, then let's publish it or something.
Melbourne:
- Automatic @ Crown. They have at least 2 tables next to power. I'm sitting at one now, about halfway along the back glass wall, near the POS terminal.
That's all I can think of off the top of my head.
Listening for the first time to Eminem's new CD, "Encore". Very different production from Dre this time around. Sounding a little more subdued, more like Timberlake, less big riffs so far (only up to track 4).

Maybe you need to acquire a laptop with extra long battery life. IBM has one I think which gives you up to 10 hours...that should do!?

Terrace Cafe at Cabrin Hospital in Malvern, has heaps of powerpoints along the windows.

I still feel uncomfortable using a laptop in cafe's. Unless, there's this nice dark corner and very few people around. And I thought most geeks (?) in Australia would have felt the same :)

serdar - why? This afternoon I was sitting in a cafe, SKYPING, with a headset on. :-)

Personality :) And it won't come as a surprise I guess when I say that when I first had a mobile (circa '94) I never had a "funky" ring-tone either.
